Everyone needs an
evil lovely plan for the year ahead, right?! I have SO many plans for Mermaiding UK this year and I can’t wait to share them all with you.
First up is A PHOTO STUDIO OF MY VERY OWN! Based just a few miles from me in Ardleigh, I collected the keys last week, and will post more details as soon as I’ve moved in and made it pretty. This one has been a long time coming (it’ll be used for my other photography business too) and I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to have a dedicated space. Eeeee! It’s in a converted mill with 30 other artist studios, so is a lovely quirky community too <3 They seem pleased to have a mermaid in their midst…!
Here’s a sneak peek of the reception area in progress (spot the mermaid scales!):
So this year will be full of mini sessions and mermaid portraits, experiments, self portraits and general mermaid photography joy. It’s also a perfect space for professional mers to expand their mermaid modelling portfolio.
My FinFolk fabric tail is on its way (eeee!), and a Shooter monofin to go inside it arrived last week too – which along with existing fins, goggles, dive masks and tails, makes for a big stash of mermaid gear I want to review and showcase for you guys, in video form if possible.
With a flurry of Christmas and New Year engagements (and perhaps some Valentine ones on the way too, not to mention all the ones that happen on ordinary, extraordinary days), mermaid hen parties will book up quickly too – and they are always so much fun to do. Current enquiries are all over the UK, not just in Colchester – so drop me a line if you’re thinking of having your hen mermaid themed. Have tails, will travel 🙂
There’s the Merfolk UK convention in April, which I missed last year but am super excited to get to this year! I’m attending to socialise and swim with other mers rather than trying to get my entire stock on a train to London, but if you want to order anything and collect at the event, I can definitely arrange that – use code MERFOLK18 at checkout to waive postage and I’ll bring your order to the convention in April!
There are a couple of charity appearances booked in with my brilliant troupe of burlesque mermaids, the first one being the Under The Sea! fundraiser for Surfers Against Sewage, in Colchester on 30 March. Excited for this one – mermaids and burlesque pirates are right up my street, and I’m looking forward to helping set the scene for partygoers!
And of course the shop is full of delights which I’ll continue to curate over the year.
So 2018 is looking fairly rosy from this mermaid’s point of view… what are you most looking forward to?
With love and narwhals (because underwater unicorns),
Mermaid Kerenza Sapphire xoxo
